The Question is,

Did the Planet Betray us,
OR?
We Betrayed the planet?

A worth watch, if you love this planet

Self Appraisal

April 3, 2008

Self Appraisal

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and
pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he
could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to call someone.

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:

Boy: "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?

Woman: (at the other end of the phone line): "I already have someone
to cut my lawn."

Boy: "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who
cuts your lawn now."

Woman: I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.

Boy: (with more perseverance) : "Lady, I'll even sweep
your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will
have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm beach , Florida."

Woman: No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The
store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.

Store Owner: "Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit
and would like to offer you a job."

Boy: "No thanks,

Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one.

Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the
job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was
talking to!"

This is what we call "Self Appraisal"

Google Docs – Now in Top Gear

Finally, we see one more google product that you can use offline.

The possibilites are enormous now.

  • Offline access
  • Sync when you are online.
  • No context switch.
  • No need for the desktop word processor.

There are certain limitations right now,

  • This feature is enabled to only a small subset.
  • Only English language is supported.
  • Not yet for spreadsheet and presentation

I still need to see it on my own and see how Google docs handles

  • Conflicts when two people change the shared document.
  • Can i do spell check offline?
  • When would spreadsheet/presentation support made available.

Happy Holi

March 21, 2008

Happy Holi

Dear Friends,

Wish you a very happy Holi.

What is Holi?

Holi is a spring festival which occurs in the month of March.

As all festivals in India, the celebration of Holi also has different
aspects

  • it is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil
  • a carnival of colours
  • a community festival
  • a tradition of ancient spring rites.

Major deities

The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the arrival of spring, and
the death of the demoness Holika.

Holika believed herself to be immune to death by fire. When she
questions her nephew Prahlad’s devotion to the Ulitmate God of Gods, Vishnu, and threatens to walk through fire with the intention of
destroying the prince, she is herself consumed by the fire while the
prince comes out unscathed.

The evening before Holi, a Holika is burnt as a representation of the
triumph of the good over evil.

Krishna’s presence in Holi is also undisputed. It is said that the
festival is also a celebration of the death of Putana – the demon who
attempted to kill Lord Krishna An effigy of Pootna, also burnt the
night before, further signifies death itself, as Pootna typifies
winter and darkness.

The following morning begins with worship of Krishna by lovingly
smearing his idol with ‘gulal’ – the colours used to play
Holi.

Krishna’s love is the epitome of the freshness of youth amidst all its
playfulness. Krishna’s loving colour fights with Radha inspired
Holi. The riot of colours follows, and takes place amidst the
sprinkling of coloured powder. Everybody is welcome and everybody is
pardoned for his or her revelry. Holi is thus a celebration of life,
the life of love, unblemished joy, and good spirits.

Just arrived CMS – Google Sites

February 29, 2008

Google has just arrived with a solution for Content Management System.

They already took over Jot Spot and here is the ready integration.

This is what Google says,

Google Sites is the easiest way to make information accessible to people who need quick, up-to-date access. People can work together on a Site to add file attachments, information from other Google applications (like Google Docs, Google Calendar, YouTube and Picasa), and new free-form content. Creating a site together is as easy as editing a document, and you always control who has access, whether it’s just yourself, your team, or your whole organization. You can even publish Sites to the world. The Google Sites web application is accessible from any internet connected computer.

Definitely, more details are available.

I still think, the killing feature would be the Search engine backend from Google.

Jodhaa Akbar

February 24, 2008

I just watched Jodhaa Akbar.

Attached is the trailor from YouTube

My Two cents:

It a “good” love story. I would key in 2.5 starts out of five.

If you have seen K Asif’s Master Creation – Mughal-e-Azam, you would miss Sahenshah Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar

For me, there was no par to Prithviraj.

It is a history, that the great ruler, Akbar, could not read/write. This was a mistake in K Asif’s edition. But this has been beautifully shown in Ashutosh Gowariker’s edition.
